Tasks: pipeline and tools developer, photographer, hands-on supervisor.
Worked with R&D to create tools that allowed the “Virtual Backgrounds” team to gather data from Lidar scans and produce clean wireframe models. Also co-developed an automatic system to process high-dynamic range photographs – which as part of the on-set crew, participated in the planning of the still shoots and photographed several sets – Burly Brawl, Freeway and San Francisco.
There was a very tight workflow with the matchmove, animation, texturing and mate-painting departments, as we complemented the elements delivered to the compositors.
Once elements had stepped into the compositor’s hands, I supervised the delivery of mattes and aided in defining a series of minimum elements to pass along at each stage. R&D worked with me to create custom reflection, light and surface shaders.
