Shopping Demo
The Miva
fresh online demo store is an online storefront that demonstrates
one possible implementation of the Miva Merchant Storefront Development
and Management System.
Store Contents - 154 product records distributed
among 18 different fresh produce categories comprise the contents
of the store. Some contain more items than others. Product listings
in each category lookup contain thumbnail images of the products,
and link to product display screens that display a larger image
of the product along with description, pricing, and weight information.
Product Listings and Shopping - Each product
listing in category lookups, search query result screens, or otherwise,
contains a hyperlink to the product's display screen, name, and
price along with an 'Add One to Basket' and a 'Buy One Now' option.
Clicking on any 'Buy One Now' option for a given product will take
the shopper directly to checkout with a new shopping basket automatically
filled with a quantity of one of the product in question. In the
case where the shopper has already added items to a shopping basket
when clicking 'Buy One Now' the item will be added to the shopping
basket and immediately take the shopper to checkout.
Administration
System Demo
This demo has a pre-configured 'demo' login for you
to use in touring through the
Miva Merchant Administration System. Just click the 'Login' button
in the login form of the front screen to get started.
The system's interface is made up of a black
header menu bar for navigation, a grey margin menu at left with
links to all of the administration controls, and a main 'Data Entry
Area' at right. As a 'demo' store manager, you'll be able to see
all of the data and configurations of the 'Miva fresh' demo.
Integrating a Storefront With Static Sites
Using the Administrative
System, developers can construct direct hyperlinks that generate
a new unique shopping basket, and take the shopper to any of a number
of different screens in the store's shopping interface:
Direct links can also be made to different screens
associated with a given product in the store. For example, sugarcane
is located in the Miva fresh 'Tropical and Exotic Fruit' category.
Following are some direct links to different screens for that product
and category respectively:
How the Admin Demo Was Built
The Administration System allows administrators to
create groups with different
permission configurations, and to create and delete users for each
of the different groups.
The 'Demo Group' created for the 'Miva fresh'
demo store has been given access that is restricted to view-only
capabilities, and a user named 'demo' in that group. Users in 'Demo
Group' (like user 'demo') are not able to see the menu options depicted
in the graphic below - the controls for creating and modifying groups
and users in the system are only available to the user named 'admin.'

Exclusive Administrator
Controls
The hyperlinked, numbered, yellow circles at left will guide
you to detailed descriptions of each different control. Following
is a brief description of the four items:
-
Add User
- Loads the 'Add User' form in the data entry area for granting
a login and password to a new user for access to the Administration
System. The new user can be created as an administrator or a
non-administrator, and/or can be granted (or disallowed) the
power to create other users in the system.
-
Edit User: demo - All
users in the system are listed as subordinate items of 'Users'
in the margin menu area. Clicking on a user's name (login) loads
the 'Edit User' form in the data entry area to change either
the login or password of the user, or to delete the user's access
to the system.
-
Add Group - To create a new group
for users in the system administrators can click 'Add User'
and load the 'Add Group' form in the data entry area.
-
Edit Group: Demo - To configure
specific permissions for a particular group in the system administrators
can click on the name of a group in the menu to load the 'Edit
Group' form in the data entry area.
